The Government of Tamil Nadu on August 03, 2026, issued amendments to the Tamil Nadu Change of Land Use (From Agriculture to Non-agriculture Purposes in Non-planning Areas) Rules, 2017.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendment to the Tamil Nadu Change of Land Use Rules, 2017 streamlines the approval process for conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use in non-planning areas.
•For dry lands, the Director is empowered to independently decide on issuing prior concurrence after verifying the documents uploaded by the applicant.
•Further, sub-rule (2) of Rule 7 has been omitted. The amendment aims to simplify and expedite the land-use conversion process.
